Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Emanuel P — 10 May 2017
As the 15th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Director/Writer James Gunn delivered the action-packed plot with beautiful visuals in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Peter Quill/Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, continues his journey with Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket, and Baby Groot figure out who his mysterious father was.
The Guardians split up after they landed in the planet of Berhert. Peter finds out who his father was, Ego the Living Planet, played by Kurt Russell. Fans have predicted that Baby Groot would be the show stealer, but it's Drax and Yondu who are the highlighted characters in the film.
James Gunn knows how we should care about these characters who feel about one thing, family. The music choices fit so well in the film with stronger lyrics than its predecessor that makes you feel that you're part of the moment.
Gunn expands the role of Kraglin, played by his brother Sean, was well performed and made us feel for him. Is Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 better than Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy? It is not, it's not as fresh as its predecessor.
The performances that stand out the most are Chris Pratt, Kurt Russell, Dave Bautista, and Michael Rooker. 8.2/10.
