Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Dal B — 11 May 2017
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a great example of a strong sequel. While not as fresh or as captivating as the original installment, it adds upon the lore of the Guardians, as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While this film is extremely funny and looks great, it can at times feel like just a filler movie for the MCU, which it ultimately is and ends up being. Regardless of that, this movie does seem to fix a bit of Marvel's villain problem, and without spoilers, has the first villain in a Marvel movie that I have thoroughly enjoyed.
It also adds onto the villainous nature of Thanos, and even though he is not shown in the movie, the story arch between Nebula and Gamora gives his character a stronger background that gets you excited to see him in Avengers: Infinity War.
Overall, the movie is exciting and funny with a great cast, and is a must see for all Marvel/GotG fans. 4/5.
