It's not as surprising as the original and, much like its predecessor, is a little rough around the edges; however, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just as joyfully and unabashedly exuberant as the first one and wisely spurns excessive action set pieces to focus on the characters that make this franchise so distinct within the vast landscape of the MCU.
