Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Billy G — 20 May 2017
GotG Vol. 2 is a fun follow-up to the original. The team of misfits still have great chemistry and we are introduced to some of the best villains the MCU has provided thus far. Like in Vol. 1, every Guardian gets their moment to shine and even allows new teammate Mantis to feel like an essential part of the group.
Kurt Russell brings charisma to the A-plot villain Ego, who could've just been another lame one-off Marvel villain. But he leaves an impression. Elizabeth Debicki as the arrogant B-plot villain Empress Ayesha provides another great foil for the Guardians.
Also, there are no unnecessary forced cameos from other MCU characters. Thankfully the Guardians remain outside of the Avengers' world. GotG Vol. 2 doesn't quite reach the greatness of Vol. 1, but is the best MCU film since Vol.
1. Bring on Vol. 3!
