Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Luke S — 21 May 2017
For a film about four criminals who put aside their differences and learn to work as a team to battle the forces of evil, having a character driven narrative to propel the plot and actually care about the lives and motivations of the players is a very important aspect and I'm elated to say this film did just that.
My greatest complaint about the first film was how shallow the characters were, that they would in no way ever have become besties by the end of that story. Gladly, this film made me forget the flat runtime rushed plot of the first film and enjoy a fun, silly, heart-string tugging movie with substance.
Aside from Logan, second favorite superhero film of the year.
