Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Benjamin L — 24 May 2017
In terms of this movie as part of the Marvel Universe, this movie ideally takes many of the original characters we know of in the first movie and greatly fleshes out who they are, especially in terms of Yondu and Gamora's sister. This aspect made the movie particularly refreshing to watch and gave a lot more color to their personalities (it also explains a lot of different questions, but I don't want to spoil the movie).
In terms of the movie as a stand-alone, I don't think I've enjoyed myself so much with a Marvel Movie. Sure it has the typical Marvel-style fights, but this is also topped off with a thick (and I mean really thick) amount of hillarity and well-timed jokes. The visuals are also extremely gorgeous to look at (Marvel does love their lasers), and is really hard to look away from. My overall impression: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is hilarious, fun, and full of character, something I buy blu-rays for because it's continuously fun and fresh.
