Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Tyler B — 29 Jun 2017
While an extremely enjoyable movie with an excellent returning cast much falls short of the original baring the sound track which continues to be a strong point of the movie. While the original boast a strong ensemble the sequel focuses in on Quill and leaves the rest of the supporting cast with little to do in the back ground.
Still an exciting story with excellent motivation, baring the robotic gold race chasing our hero's. Kurt Russell's strong developed human character provides us a more grounded villain until he takes a back seat in an over blown action set piece.
While the action set piece falls short of expectations Quill's emotional story excels hitting everyone in the feels and further humanizing and developing Quill as one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Hopefully in Vol. 3 we return to see the ensemble working together on screen doing good, bad and a little of both.
