What a blast! Another film fans will crave about if they love "Back To The Future," "Star Wars," and other superhero films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I see this movie as the kind Marvel Studios has never done before.

The opening gives a "Jumanji" connection to audiences of how one child being raised in other dimension after 26 years becomes a childish but responsible hero. The soundtrack is influencing. Same for the Awesome Mix Vol.

1 tape Peter Quill's mother gave him as a child. It contains several 70's songs, such as "Hooked on a Feeling," "I Want You Back," and etc.. They represent cultural references of how the film's story goes, especially how they relate to the heroic characters.

What is also exciting about this film is that it examines different kinds of alien races. Director James Gunn showed positive enthusiasm of what action, adventure, and friendship can do outside in space (If only other worldly plants were non-fictional, of course).

There's nothing in it which connects to other previous movies, such as "Iron Man", "Thor", "Captain America", and so on. However, the future antagonist of "Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1&2 (2018 & 2019), Thanos, appears during the post credits of the first two Avengers films saying how he'll destroy Earth.

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of those explosive and thrilling sci-fi films for all families to enjoy. Pre-teen and teenagers most likely, but still fun that they won't even see it as a superhero movie.
