Review of Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) by Josh L — 04 Mar 2018

Guardians was a victim of hype for me. I wanted to see it in theaters because everyone was telling me how amazing it was, but I just never got to it. After watching it, I can say it is overrated but enjoyable.

Most people told me it was the best Marvel film to date and I highly disagree. While the special effects and action are typically top notch, the story leaves alot to be desired. Characters motivations change in an instant and it is completely unbelievable.

Obviously the characters themselves all have unique and interesting personalities and there's a couple memorable ones, but I found the film lacking the punch necessary to take it from good to great.

I still prefer The Avengers or the first Iron Man as the top of the Marvel canon so far.
