Review of Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) by Laura L — 06 Sep 2015

The film had its moments, contained some good humour, and had a strong cast and interesting and enjoyable characters. Unfortunately, the large cast meant little time was really dedicated to exploring any of the characters, offering only hints, the action sequences were disappointing yet very frequent, the overarching plot was flimsy, and the film was simply too long.

Also, spoiler alert, I'm not going to complain that the whole heroic sacrifice thing is cliché, but it's difficult to feel like you've gotten to know a character before they die when they only said three words.

.. over and over. Also, I know this is Marvel, but even for them, taking fewer than twenty minutes to resurrect that same character is getting into the realm of silly. On the whole, it's okay. Watch it if you're a big Marvel fan or have nothing better to do.
