Review of Groundhog Day (1993) by Jerome K — 11 Nov 2011
This was a nice, feel-good film. At first Bill Murray's character is unlikeable, but as the plot moves along, you come to sympathize with his situation and see that he has some redeemable characteristics.
This is a pretty old film, released in 1993, so if you haven't yet heard about this film, I'll just tell you now. The story revolves around weatherman Phil who is forced to relive the same day over and over.
The film answers some interesting questions like what would one do if one could redo their actions and what would one do with their time when given an eternity. Murray definitely carries this film and does an excellent job in his usual role as the loveable jerk/loser.
Some people don't like Andie McDowell but I thought she was very sweet in this film. Overall, I think this film worked best because it touched upon some philosophical elements without being too preachy or pretentious.
