Review of Groundhog Day (1993) by Alan D — 13 Sep 2015
A flawless, endearing and heart warming offering from Harold Ramis and a measured and masterfully funny turn from the one and only Bill Murray. Supporting player Macdowell bounces off Murray beautifully, a superb tale of conceit and ego being washed away to allow love to finally touch this lonely isolated man.
The themes of time and its value, of change and becoming a good person all course through the film wonderfully. One review spoke of shades of Capra's 'It's a wonderful life' but I also felt a sense of 'Beauty and the Beast' the breaking of the spell and the romance element.
In the wrong hands could of easily fell flat, Murrays performance was really engaging.
