Review of Groundhog Day (1993) by Simon H — 28 Jun 2014
Groundhog Day was never going to sweep the Academy Awards away but what it does do is provide you with a unique concept which is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Whilst similar ideas have been provided in other films, Groundhog Day gives it a fresh and funny feel through the comedic talents of Bill Murray.
Some of the lines are fantastic and really make you chuckle out loud. The film never explains how Murray ends up in this situation but you have so much fun that it never really bother you too much. Harold Ramis brings a wonderful directing style to the movie which can't be easy due to the number of repeated scenes.
I believe that if there was any other actor in the lead role, then Groundhog Day might have not worked as well. Bill Murray brings his humour to a clever script and a fantastic family comedy.
