Review of Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) by Timothy D — 15 Dec 2008
One of my older favorites and one of the few amusing comedies to come out of the 90s. This film works because of the casting choice of Cusack, he sounds depressed and sarcastic in all his films, so the character of the neurotic depressed hitman played here is a perfect match for that trait.
The supporting cast is a bit uneven in spots with Driver seeming to drop out of character at random moments, but this is counterbalance by the great performance by Aykroyd. Very much worth a watch!
