Review of Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) by Melissa A — 20 Jun 2009
This was one of my favourites from John Cusack that I wanted to watch again! The story is about an independent hitman named Martin, who travels back to Michigan to do a job only to realize that his high school reunion is going on at the same time.
When being asked what he's been up to all these years, introducing himself as a professional killer doesn't seem like the easiest thing to do and he is faced with more than he had bargained for, including being reunited with an jaded love interest whom he stood up on prom night 10 years ago but is still in love with.
Great casting, and there were tons of excellent scenes especially one with Dan Aykroyd and fighting with the waitress about omelettes and the therapy sessions with Alan Arkin. This movie was hilarious, darkly entertaining with a killer soundtrack of The Cure, Echo and The Bunnymen, Bowie, A-Ha, and more!
