Review of Groove (2000) by Jin C — 28 Dec 2007
Far from perfect, but brilliant for what Greg Harrison was trying to accomplish. Yes it has it's cliche moments and they totally ripped the VW gay couple sequence from the commercial, but hey it's all about PLUR right? haha.
This film reminds me of adolescent years when I stumbled upon the loft/underground party scene in the last days of PLUR. The soundtrack is one of the brighter notes of the film and although it was kind of cheesy the dance sequence with John Digweed at the end after the party gets busted for the first time reminds you of that first peak when you dropped those two double stack Mitsubishi's and the speakers seemed to double in volume right as your endorphins went buck wild (or maybe that just my experience.
..). More personally nostalgic for me than a full on ground breaking cinema.
