Review of Grizzly Man (2005) by Cam S — 01 Jul 2009
This could be one of my TOP 5 favorite movies. After i've seen it 3 times I purchased Herzog's other films...and this one remains my favorite. I love the way he dealt with this documentary, which is not about ecology and environmental issues as I thought.
It's more like a portrait of Timothy, who is obviously totally insane and paranoid. Though Herzog added lots of opinions and notion of his own, it's still very inspiring and interesting to see nature through Herzog's eyes which is indifferent, detached and ordinary.
Most filmmakers would like to shoot filled with natural beauty. Somehow that's the most contrived and UNNATURAL thing, isn't it? There are extremely beautiful people in human race...as well are there superstars in natural world as those spectacles, great mountains, rivers, waterfalls and so on.
But Herzog didn't cut off those sections which nothing included in but only plain ordinary weeds and hills and wind sweeping by....
