Review of Grizzly Man (2005) by Bill B — 25 Mar 2010
Working from Timothy Treadwell's own natural footage, Herzog creates a tragic, fascinating documentary, but ultimately he outdoes himself with his own "Encounters At The End Of The World" two years later.
While that film gives us the thrill of exploration and an immersive, existential travelogue experience, Grizzly Man does the same from a third-person retrospective. Well done, but pales in comparison.
