Fantastic. I heard someone talk about how the major flaw of this movie was that Herzog was looking for any chance he got to make fun of Timothy Treadwell. I don't think this is the case. As I recall, Herzog made a few jabs here and there, but I think that's equally as fascinating as the Treadwell story.

Herzog is a character himself, and will watch the Treadwell story and then throw in his two cents. Sometimes he disagrees with Treadwell and feels the need to point it out; there's nothing wrong with this.

If anything, it's more fascinating that Herzog's defense mechanism is poking fun at this guy because he relates so much to him. Herzog wants to call this filmmaker obsessed with dangerous creatures, and filming potentially life threatening situations crazy.

But Herzog does just this with a lot of his narratives. He, too, is a crazy filmmaker with loads of ambition and willing to do whatever it takes to get a shot, going anywhere, doing anything. And looking at Treadwell is like looking into a mirror.
