Review of Grizzly Man (2005) by Christopher M — 18 Nov 2012
My favourite documentary film of all time, it's a delight to watch. It is fundamental in it's combination of complete "estatic" truth and pure emotion, wrapped up into an interesting storyline. I think what it does cleverly, is that it can really deliver every emotion possible. It is funny bits, sad dramatic bits, it makes you think about life, about human nature, nature in general. The music in this is an overlooked triumph, absolutely fundamental to the mood and fits in unbelievably well, perfect!
I think for the most part, I think the only reason why you wouldn't get this film is because it could so easily be passed off as a "was he wrong or was he right" story, it even addresses it in the film that this is completely what it shouldn't be about. Everyone who watches this should be able to address something from their personal life from this. This isn't one of those films that should be passed off as "yeah he's an idiot for doing that and deserves to get eaten"! There is a lot more depth in here and should definately be explored!
