Review of Grizzly Man (2005) by Flower P — 06 Apr 2010
OK, so this is a few years old but it was on TV last night and I hadn't seen it. Werner Herzog's documentary on Timothy Treadwell, an utter looney who thought he could live in harmony with very large bears in Alaska. That was until the bears ate him and his girlfriend.
Containing lots of Treadwell's own footage, who fancied himself as some sort of animal saving warrior celebrity. Treadwell is highly irritating in a lot of his narrations but it's very clear he was not right in the head and it cost him the ultimate price. Even the audio of the fatal attack was captured by his camera, but Herzog wisely doesn't share it. The doctor who did the autopsy's imagining of events is frightening enough.
