Review of Grizzly Man (2005) by Melvin W — 08 Aug 2012
The more I think about this movie the more reverence I have for it. Over the years I've realized this movie has held on to me in a way few movies do. In fact writing this review sends shivers down my spine, as I recollect Timothy's dream, passion, his misguided pioneering sense of purpose - as American as it is human.
I would be doing myself an injustice if I didn't say that this is one of the most powerful, pitch perfect documentaries I've ever seen, and I've seen my fair share. Herzog's best film may be the only one he's ever played straight, and this is coming from a huge fan of Herzog's poetry, and general zaniness.
