Review of Grindhouse (2007) by Travis S — 26 Jan 2010
Before seeing Grindhouse I cannot remember the last time I went to a movie where throughout the entire show the whole audience and I were applauding and having the time of our lives. Grindhouse is a one of a kind original theatrical movie experience that is a must see.
Grindhouse is a 100% thrill ride, with plenty of laughs that are continuously delivery, and suspense that holds no barriers. Grindhouse was the nickname given to theaters that showed back to back films; cheesy, lame, action packed B films.
Grindhouse is two feature films shown back to back, the first is Robert Rodriguezâ??s Planet Terror, a zombie film that very takes itself serious. Planet Terror is a pure fun bloody zombie movie that comes fully loaded; it even includes a woman with a high powered machine gun for a leg! What other movie can you find that and go along with it? The second and better film is Quentin Tarantinoâ??s Death Proof, about a manic stunt driver (Kurt Russell) who hunts down women and kills them with his car.
Death Proof leads up to one of the best car chases ever in movie history! A chase scene that is all stunt work and no CGI. One of the biggest highlights of Grindhouse is that the film also features hilarious fake trailers at the beginning of Planet Terror and as intermission between the two films.
Grindhouse is a once in a lifetime film experience that will probably never come again. Grindhouse is a brilliant homage to old school cinema of the 70s and I loved every minute of it! One of the best films of 2007!
