Review of Grindhouse (2007) by J.d. K — 14 Dec 2009
Rodriguez and Tarantino are two great filmmakers, whose films are amazing to watch. This film, homage toward the old double-feature style in the 1970s and 1980s, is done with great effect. Rodriguez's film (Planet Terror) is campy and a great homage toward old zombie films.
Tarantino's film (Death Proof), the second in the double-feature, sort of falters, though Kurt Russell's performance, as well as the performance of the actresses, is amazing. The final car chase, running at 18 minutes long, is fucking amazing, beating any other type of carchase.
The fake trailers, especially Rodriguez's (which he is already making into a film), are weird and crazy. Check this one out. It will rock your mind and give you one great film experience.
