Review of Grindhouse (2007) by Ramon M — 09 Sep 2010
This was one of the greatest ideas ever make a double feature and have two of hollywoods best directors collaborate, and recreate the old sleazy Grindhouse theater experience, complete with trailers and all.
I see grindhouse as a whole, it makes it more enjoyable that way. Planet Terror is the better of the two films, being a perfect mix of horror/ exploitation/ sci fi. The 'Machete' and 'Thanksgiving' trailer were the best of the fake trailers.
As much as I wanted to like Tarantono's film, the decision to cast unknowns and give them subpar dialogue really hurt the pacing of his entry. The last half is good, but it seriously takes forever to get there.
Overall seeing 'Grindouse' in the theater was the most fun 3 hours I have had ever.
