Review of Grindhouse (2007) by Baurushan J — 20 Oct 2011

Today we discuss for the first time in film history, two movies put into one rather than one movie split into two. Robert Rodriguez directs his very own zombie horror with a sci-fi twist starring Rose McGowan as a sexy stripper who later becomes a one-legged heroine while the master of bloody violence himself Quentin Tarantino invents his own crazy stories this time coming up with Death Proof starring Kurt Russell as a mad sinister Stuntman Mike.

In Planet Terror, they accidentally let out a nuclear gas that infects the local residents and turns them into zombies. A stripper named Cherry Darling retires from her job and wants to be a comedian but she instead loses her right leg so her future is destroyed.

She then meets Wray and a number of other survivors that haven't been infected by the gas. Wray makes Cherry a gun which she can fix to her leg and shoot people. In the end they escape on the helicopter.

In Death Proof, a mad crazy sinister stuntman named Stuntman Mike loves to crash his car because he believes to call his car "Death Proof". Every time, he's around, he's watching a group of girls who do what a bunch of jackasses would do such as smoke weed and drink and do the silliest things possible.

So when these girls fully don't know that they're drunk he kills them off by car crashing them believing that they are dead. And this is the reason why both movies are good. While I like Robert Rodriguez's science-fiction action but still this cannot top the 1998 alien thriller and those Spy Kids films, Quentin Tarantino gives us a mad crazy film in original standard that is not a psychological thriller.

Both Planet Terror and Death Proof get a 5/5=10/10.
