Rodriguez wins for sticking to the form. The plot of Planet Terror is simultaneously ridiculous and thought provoking. Death proof cheats on the form and the dialouge scenes are spirals to nowhere. Somewhat like duel, the dialogue is just a set up for a car chase and kick ass revenge plot.
Ultimately both films suceed in being bad, good, an homage, and transcendent of the source material.
