Review of Grimsby (2016) by Jule D — 14 Mar 2016
Sasha Baron Cohen has always been known for outrageous comedic roles. In this latest movie he stars as Nobby, an exaggerated version of a hooligan. I've always found his characters to be very entertaining, but this one seems to be dull. Yes, he has a very silly haircut and facial hair. Yes, his attire stays the same the whole entire movie with the exception of a certain scene that involves his and Mark Strong's characters getting "soaked". But what made his previous characters work are the scenarios that they were involved in and the jokes that became of them. There were very few jokes that were very funny. Oftentimes some of the jokes just go a little too far and come off like they're trying to incorporate some gags from the Jackass series.
Mark Strong was awesome in this because he portrayed the serious assassin brother very well. He can actually pull off a more serious role in the future as the main protagonist unlike his prior films where he's a sidekick.
