Review of Grimsby (2016) by Anthony K — 03 Jun 2016

Now, I knew Brothers Grimsby was going to be repulsive. Like, men-climbing-inside-an-elephant's-vagina-and-getting-bukkaked-by-a gang-of-male-elephants disgusting. I think there is room for movies that play like a video nasty and simply aims to offend exists. What I didn't expect was for the movie to be a love letter to the often-overlooked British blue collar class.

Unfortunately, unlike Attack the Block, which targets a similar demographic, BG is poorly edited, and less shock-humor than it is just plain gross. I'm not sure who Sasha Baron Cohen aims to please with his films anymore...but I can only imagine the premiere screening for this film, and the number of critics who projectile vomited in their theater seats.
