Review of Gridiron Gang (2006) by Trevor T — 24 Jul 2010
I'd never even heard of this film until a friend told me about it. I'm always keen to watch a film with Dwayne Johnson (or as I like to just call him The Rock) in it so we watched this on DVD including many others as part of a DVD night.
Seeing as this is somewhat based on true events I found the plot to be pretty convincing and it wasn't goofy at all. One bit in the film came off as a bit surprising but other than that the plot formula was pretty predictable but it came off very well.
The film is supported by a good cast as well. I can't fault Dwayne Johnson at all as, in my opnion, he just seems to be a naturally gifted actor. I found a rare moment in this film were he actually shows some emotion in his character which I have never seen him do before. It was a surprise to see Xzibit and even more suprisingly Jamal Mixon (who played Ernie Clump Jnr in The Nutty Professor) star in the film.
Overall a good film, a sort of predictable plot, but well put together film.
