Review of Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) by Nunz — 26 Jul 2008
Way back before CG graphics - this movie pushed the bar with the most lifelike ape-suits ever seen. Other points of articulation would be the ethereal soundtrack by John Scott that is every bit as memorable as a Williams soundtrack.
If your a guy and you have not seen this movie - You must just to see Andy McDowell when she was twenty - her beauty is OFF THE CHAIN - This movie apart from the trivial is one of the few movies that captured the actual "feel" of the novel that it is based on.
Interesting to note, that because of the fact that this movie tries to follow the original ( and was not f'ed with ala "Frankenstein, it actually comes off as extra original because it is a Tarzan that has not been beat to death ( You know what I mean - 20 year old Super-model man that lets his hair grow out for two months ) "Without question - this film is the definitive Tarzan.
