My 10th favorite. Wow. Wow. Wowzers. What can be said of the late Beales? Not really a sick freak show. Not really an exploitative documentary. Not really the sad story of two lonely recluses going mad at Grey Gardens.
But, really, the movie is all three. Unforgettable. Haunting. Amazing. After seeing it, I wanted to go to Grey Gardens with a nice picnic basket and some wonderful music. Wonder what's become of the property now that both are gone.
How sad. How beautiful. See it!
