Review of Grey Gardens (2009) by Sophie M — 29 Apr 2009
A fascinating fly on the wall look at the life of two wonderfully eccentric, bizarre and charismatic characters with a wealth of stories to tell. As previous reviewers have mentioned, it is hard not to feel despair for both ladies' lost potential and wonder how they could have let themselves descend into such decay and neglect.
However the fact that both ladies seemed to still be living in the magic of their past worlds, and had a loosened grip on reality was somewhat of a comfort to me as a viewer. This was quite captivating, yet at times disturbing, to watch.
I would love to know more about their earlier lives.
