Review of Gremlins (1984) by Ded-Meet C — 02 Jan 2013
Gremlins is a true 80´s classic movie - a unique, memorable and funny little horror/comedy flick that has just about everything going for it.
The movie still works well in spite of being such an effects driven movie in a way - and while the special effects might feel "dated" nowadays (what are digital effects and CGI?) - they still get the job done beautifully. That is the hallmark of a well made (edited and directed) movie based on a really good story.
One of the minor drawbacks is the occasionally cheesy acting, but it does have the positive side-effect of making the gremlins appear more alive. Also - it is a horror-comedy and the overacting kinda went with that territory during the 80´s anyway.
All in all a true (christmas) classic and a genuine gem of a movie!
