Review of Gregory's Girl (1980) by Eric R — 04 Apr 2011
A charming, quirky brilliantly scripted comedy that follows a bunch of scottish teenagers as they start to discover the appeal of the opposite sex. The film particularly follows Gregory a goofy, charming wise ass of a student who begins to fall for the new girl in school who happens to join the soccer team.
He believes to be madly in love with her but his attempts for the most part fail. Its not a surprise that this film is highly regarded, its script perfectly captures the adolescent stage in peoples life where their hormones are a raging.
The dialogue is charming and funny, while never feeling overly so. I think the ending of the film sums it all up quite well.
