Review of Greenberg (2010) by Johnny T — 20 Feb 2011
The wonder of the film is how good it makes us feel. Greenberg scintillates with intelligence, razor's-edge humor and austere empathy for its struggling lovers. Bittersweet and beautifully realized, harsh but humane, Greenberg is a self-consciously small film that nevertheless leaves an indelible mark. Greenberg is on every level the work of a more mature filmmaker, and quite possibly a happier man. Greenberg, with Stiller's sad and self-mocking portrait at its core, is well worth getting to know.
VERDICT: "Full Price" - My second highest rating (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theater to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent.
