Review of Greenberg (2010) by Kieran T — 01 Sep 2010
Ben Stiller plays a serious anal retentive asshole in his latest effort "Greenberg" a film where the producers said, "Hey, let's get a recently critically acclaimed director, a comedy actor trying to go 'serious' in a low budget drama with quirky music and sell it to the indy crowd!" The worst part about it is that Stiller is boring and supposedly crazy too.
Too bad he never really goes crazy. Maybe this film would have been more exciting than the flatline effort and uncomfortable social situations that take place. Good cinematography and good actors just can't save this stop and start production that only gets more disturbing when Stiller has two mature sexual situations.
Just creepy. Critics will talk about how great this film is but for the majority of actual people wanting to see anything funny- it's just not here. The ending doesn't help much as it made me feel as though this film was a gigantic waste of time and only reinforces my attitude that 'real' critics sometimes don't know what they're talking about.
