Review of Greenberg (2010) by Christine B — 19 Jan 2011
This is the story of two lost souls who are just trying to figure out how to be happy in a world that drives them crazy. Greenberg is a quirky, uneven but sometimes touching character study featuring the irascible but interesting Roger Greenberg - played exceptionally well by Ben Stiller - and a likeable lost soul named Florence (who is this wonderful Greta Gerwig?) who find each other even though they didn't want to.
Rhys Ifans gives an usually somber, thoughtful & genuine performance as Greenberg's best friend & former bandmate and Jennifer Jason Leigh (who co-wrote the film with her husband, director Noah Baumbach) has a small, surprisingly unquirky part (for her) as Greenberg's long lost love.
