Review of Greenberg (2010) by Matthew A — 01 Jul 2011
One's tolerance for this latest offering from writer-director Noah Baumbach depends largely on whether the viewer buys into Ben Stiller in the title role. This viewer bought into Stiller's performance as Greenberg from the first shot to the last.
It's his best performance to date. On the one hand, Greenberg is a pointed examination of a lost soul in search of himself; however, it balances that story thread with a vivid depiction of everyday living in Los Angeles that escapes most directors except for Mr.
Baumbach.
