Review of Green Zone (2010) by Matt T — 22 Jan 2014

Good enough amount of drama, action. In 2003, Iraq is under attack by USA forces. The military General Igal Naor and his men went to hide. 4 weeks later, Matt Damon lead his troops to check on a WMD site.

But it turns out to be empty. The intel is from their army. This is their 3rd futile attempt. Greg Kinnear is a top CIA director who want to find the WMDs. Amy Ryan is a journalist investigating. The army are been blamed for moving too slow whereas Matt think the intel are fishy.

During the briefing, Matt raise his queries and the General says its all good. Brendan Gleeson is from CIA, he tell Matt the site they are gonna visit is empty as UN bio team went there 2 months ago. He too is on the same view as Matt.

Greg want to hand the power to an Iraqi who has not live in Iraq for 30 years. Brendan think the domestic army can help stabilize the country but Greg refuse to accept. Khalid Abdalla go up to tell Matt he saw some important people having a meeting nearby their point.

Matt decide to check it out. Igal and his men are discussing on their country future and he believe the Americans will contact them soon for help. If not they will fight back. Matt and men attack into their house but Igal manage to escape.

One contact guy is caught and the car plate is trace to Igal. The guy says only Igal know about WMDs and he will tell them how to find him if his family is protected. Another troop came in and take over the prisoners.

Matt quickly pass the notebook of that guy to Khalid. When Khalid is out of sight, they chase him. Matt thought he plan to run away. Khalid just want to help his own country not for reward. Matt reveal what he found to Brendan and he is roped in to assist.

Amy still can't get enough info from Greg and she bail out. She saw Matt talking to Brendan and introduce herself. Greg is behind the intercept of Matt mission. The contact guy says the notebook contain the locations of Igal safe houses.

Nobody has seen the mystery informant to Greg, who is the one to divulge WMD information. Brendan want to make a deal with Igal. He send Matt to find a the contact guy. Greg drop by and revoke Matt temporary position.

He quickly leave with Khalid. Greg visit Brendan office and get the book back. The Special Forces under Greg is told to find Igal from the safe house.The contact guy is injured badly in jail when Matt find him.

Matt find Amy to find out what she know about the informant. She got a call from a DC official giving her this top story. The meeting was in Jordan and its the same as what the contact guy mentioned. Matt tell Brendan Igal is the informant.

And maybe he told Greg there's no WMD in Iraq afterall and Greg is making up all the fake sites for the military to invade with reason. They receive information the safe houses are under attack. Greg probably want Igal dead to hide the truth.

Matt save one of the commander to Igal and get him to send a meeting message. Greg got the news and send his troop to stop Matt and kill Igal. Greg quickly hold a press release that all Iraqi military forces are dissolve and relieve of duty.

Igal and his men gear up after hearing the news. They kidnap Matt to meet Igal. Khalid follow on foot. Matt tell Igal the reason. The Special Forces arrive at their location. Igal escape and Matt give chase.

Matt stop the SF captain from killing Igal. He got kill by one of the Iraqi soldier. Khalid suddenly came from the side and shot dead Igal. Matt let him go since there's nothing that can be done. The Iraqi exile is been appointed to rule Iraq as to the desire of Greg.

He don't give a damn about Matt. Matt email to Amy the truth of what he knows and also to many other news agency.
