Review of Green Zone (2010) by Calvin D — 22 Jan 2011
There's quite obviously a different type of war movie that has developed as a result of the Iraq War, so much so that it might become a sub-genre in itself. Green Zone fits in with movies like Body of Lies and The Hurt Locker that manages to do it well.
Its got that grainy picture, the smart use of shaky-cam, and the often cluttered mise-en-scène. It all comes together to create a well crafted image of the War. It also includes a breakneck pacing and a powerful lead performance from Matt Damon to create one of my favourite films from 2010.
