Review of Green Zone (2010) by Stuart M — 11 Feb 2011
One of the finest Iraq war movies I've seen. Matt Damon plays Chief Warrant Officer Miller, a WMD inspector puzzled by the fact that he can't find any, questions the intel, then sets out running through a conspiracy maze involving Greg Kinnear's sketchy Pentagon official, Brendan Gleeson's frustrated CIA chief, Amy Ryan's manipulated News reporter, Jason Isaac's douchebag Special Forces commander and a search for the Republican Guard General who has the answer.
The plot is super tight, the action is propulsive, the pacing is relentless and the message is bitter. Matt Damon pulls out an absolutely no bullshit performance. Up there with 3 Kings and Black Hawk Down, as middle east war movies go.
