Review of Green Zone (2010) by Marco R — 15 Feb 2011
There are a few things I really liked in this thriller. One, it's not all spelled out for you, giving you details through poorly conceived flashbacks, or monologuing for the sake of exposition. The film treats the viewer as a smart individual who can figure things out for themselves.
However, what we are shown gives us just enough clues to follow along, sometimes a little more information than the main character has. This brings out the tension and suspense. I also enjoyed the realistic ending.
It was neither heroic or manipulative. It felt real, just right. Parallels to real world military politics is just a bonus. All along I felt as though I was right along side the actors, a participant in the story.
I love when that happens.
