Review of Green Zone (2010) by Fastidious P — 02 Jun 2011
What a nice surprise this film turned out to be. Due to his style, Greengrass is very much hit and miss for me; hit when he's making films like United 93, miss when he's directing Bourne movies. Green Zone definitely fits into the former category.
I was really impressed with the absolute authenticity of this film. It did take me about ten minutes to acclimate to the film grammar, but once I did I felt all the directorial choices were spot on. Green Zone is a very tense piece of work that deftly balances three opposing views on the whole WMD debacle. My only complaint is the film is in too much of a hurry to tell it's story. I would have liked to see Roy Miller follow a couple of bad leads before ultimately getting to Al Rawi.
