Review of Green Zone (2010) by Jason M — 05 Dec 2011
"Green Zone" is a frustrated, angry film that is complete fiction yet sells itself as an important, revelatory expose of sorts. It's a left-wing anti-Iraq war propaganda piece that tries to be entertaining but keeps tripping over it's barrage of political statements and pop shots.
The Iraq war is a sensitive and complex subject yet the filmmakers handle it in a very reckless way, never passing up a chance to paint America, the Bush administration, or at times the military in a very negative light regardless of how inaccurate their story is.
The camera work is headache inducing, the action isn't exciting, the profanity is pointless, and the screenplay is lacking. "Green Zone" is an arrogant and sometimes offensive fantasy movie that pretends to be a cutting edge look at a serious topic.
Simply put, don't waste your time.
