Review of Green Street Hooligans (2005) by Sam T — 13 Nov 2012
Why is this rotten, or anything like Fight Club?! Jesus Christ, were any of you watching the same film as I was?!
In my opinion, it was a very moving film. It reminded me of This Is England in a sense, but instead about football, and with it's own unique flavour. It's based in London, England, where football has it's own culture and crowd; a crowd that influences gang violence amongst rival teams. By halfway through the movie, I'm drawn to the main characters in a way that, whenever there's any sort of threat, I'm left at the edge of my seat, hoping none of them get hurt. Obviously one of them does in the end, and obviously I cried my eyes out, but there's also a very important lesson to be learnt from it, that you can stand your ground, but you need to know when to back down.
Personally I really enjoyed this film, definitely worth a watch!
