Review of Green Room (2016) by Bill M — 20 May 2016

A really fucking hard movie, if you dont have the disposition for it (hell..even if you do) it will leave you feeling pulverized and a little shaky. The story of a travelling young punk band "The Aint Rights" who take on a gig in a hellish neo nazi club only for things to turn into a bloody clusterfuck.

The way this movie escalates it's violence and intensity is seriously raw and shocking, with some of the most astonishingly crafted, gut wrenchingly realistic gore effects i've witnessed for a long time, I actually recoiled and gasped and Iam a hardened gore hound.

The direction is masterful, the acting powerful, Patrick Stewart absolutely kill's it as nazi gang leader Darcy, the seasoned actor revealing a dark menace we've never seen from him before, he's truly stunning, and both Anton Yelchin and Ali Shawkat are typically superb, but it's stunning brit actress Imogen Poots who is the real standout, as nazi girl Amber she's incredible, intense, darkly sinister, sexy and utterly fucking badass, she's a character who you can never second guess and whom you always feel is right on the edge of turning on our over-matched young heroes.

Green Room is a ferocious, brutal bastard of a film, it clearly wants to hurt you, be brave and let it because you wont find a more unrelentingly intense, scary as fuck, panic attack of an experience at the flicks this year.

It's a vicious, nasty, hardcore treat.
