Review of Green Room (2016) by Aaron N — 18 Apr 2018
Wow, what an insanely gruesome thrill ride! A young hardcore punk band is down on their luck touring, barely making enough to survive, and illegally siphoning gas to stay moving. They ultimately decide to take a remote gig at a club in the woods, in a last ditch effort to make some decent cash. Upon arriving at the club, however, they discover that this was the wrong decision, as the club hosts "white power" stickers, confederate flags, and violent skinheads. Upon witnessing a murder backstage, they're held in a back room where it becomes clear what the intentions of their captors are. The situation quickly escalates to a brutally graphic fight for their lives.
Starring Patrick Stewart as the ruthless, demented, and racist club owner calling the shots amongst his small army of skinhead fucks, this movie is an alarmingly-intense, blood-gushing kill-fest featuring a soundtrack of hardcore punk and thrash metal. I overall highly enjoyed it, although it could've done with a little more nazi death in my personal opinion... Although what nazi gore that occurred certainly was enjoyable to watch, for me at least. 8.3/10.
