Review of Green Mansions (1959) by Keenan S — 04 Mar 2013
Green Mansions is pretty much considered to be one of the all-time worst films Audrey Hepburn ever appeared in...but I adore Green Mansions. It's one of the weirdest, most lurid, beautiful, oddly compelling messes I've ever seen.
It's chock-full of many interesting ideas and I loved the blend of romance, fantasy, and adventure even if the ideas didn't always come together as planned. I fell in love with this strange film and I was certainly never bored even during the moments that are admittedly flawed.
It's so deliciously weird and surreal that I fell in love with it in all its glorious weirdness. I don't care that this film is considered terrible, I love it and it's now among my favorite romance films even though it probably shouldn't be.
If you love weird films, you must see Green Mansions because it is unlike anything you will ever see.
