Review of Green Lantern: First Flight (2009) by Joy B — 24 Aug 2009
Visually pretty to look at but I couldn't help but feel something was...missing.
The story flow felt - odd. It didn't have any dynamic feel to it and it was just sort of bland. But that could be attributed to the Hal Jordan character; of which you'll notice a GL as my avatar, but it's Kyle Rayner; you know, the actual charismatic one.
The movie does basically nothing to set up his character, all you know is he's a hotshot test pilot, from there he's cracking wise almost immediately to his superiors. We don't know if he's just a stand-for-himself kind of guy or just a major asshole.
Nice inclusion of the new Sinestro look, but the voice talents felt ...off...too. Here's hoping the live action movie is better than this one.
